GLOBAL FOOTPRINT YOUTH RELAY REGISTRATION

Wings of America and Global Running Culture invite runners ages 6-13 to register the first ever Global Footprint Youth Relay on Saturday, September 15th at the Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino. This free event asks participants to reaffirm their commitment to a healthy body, mind and spirt by working together to complete a 1.5 hour long relay in three teams. Olympic champion and Wings board-member Billy Mills will be in attendance along with elite-runner Alvina Begay. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE ON THE AFTERNOON OF SEPTEMBER 15th FROM 1:00pm-4:00pm. PARTICIPANTS, PLEASE ARRIVE BY 1:30PM AT THE LATEST

Parking for participants only will be available in the lot just north of the Homewood Suites (see map below). Please note that this lot will be closed to car traffic from 1:45-3:15 to make way for the relay.

Schedule of Events:

1:00-2:00pm, Check-In/Warm-up Fun & Games/T-shirt Printing

2:00-3:30pm, Youth Relay/Healthy Snacks/Native-tailored field & ball games for all

3:30-4:00pm, Presentations/signing by Olympic Gold Medalist, Billy Mills and 2012 Olympic Trials competitor, Alvina Begay.

4:00, CLOSING

RELAY DETAILS: Older, or more experienced runners will be asked to pull their team through the longer (blue, ~.65 miles) leg of the course. (see map below) Once finished, younger, or less experienced, runners will continue the chain and finish the one mile circuit. Red course runners (~.35 miles) will pick up a “counter” during their leg of the relay that they will place in their team’s counting bin at the start/finish line. At the end of the relay, counters will be tallied to determine how many miles were run by each team over the course of the event. While the relay is taking place, Wings of America Running & Fitness Camp facilitators will lead field and ball games for those participants not actively participating in the relay. UP TO 7 RUNNERS FROM EACH OF THE THREE TEAMS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE COURSE AT ONE TIME .
