The 36th annual “Big Tesuque Trail Run” is ON!!…Well, sort of…
As it has for at least the past 10 years, proceeds from race registration will support Wings programs and the creation of opportunities for Native youth to embrace running as a lifestyle. You can register HERE at runsignup.
To maintain social distance guidelines, anyone can sign up and run the 12-mile course “to the towers and back” on their own between now and October 3rd, 2020. The course is as beautiful as ever and this year. And because you’ll be timing yourself, the organizers are allowing everyone to stop their watches at the top, take in the views for as long as they like, then start their watch before running back down. All times will be self-reported on the runsignup website. But they know your times from previous years- so they’ll be on the lookout for any suspiciously stellar PR’s…..
Race categories for awards will be the same (0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, >70) for both women and men and we’ll have first overall awards for female and male. Because people will be running it on different days, we’ve going to order the shirts after everyone has entered, so they will arrive later, but for once, you’ll get the right shirt size! This year, Wings Executive Director & 6-time Big T champ, Dustin Martin will be designing the shirt. There will also be some raffle prizes but they haven’t finished the list of what those are yet.
As always, the race starts and ends at the Aspen Vista Trail at the gate. The top is the same t-post participants have run around for the past 10+ years. Organizers ask you to stay safe, wear a mask, wear gloves if you intend to fall, and mostly, enjoy the run! In the event that coronavirus is gone by October 3rd and/or social distancing restrictions are lifted, anyone interested can meet at the trailhead and we’ll all run together at 9am.
Email race director, Peter Fant (firstname.lastname@example.org), if you have any questions.
