1988 Raleigh, NC—Wings of the Southwest junior boys and junior girls teams win the TAC/USA National Cross Country Championships, stunning junior varsity teams from all over the USA.

1990 New York City, NY—Wings of the Southwest junior boys once again capture the TAC championship. Junior girls place second. Phillip Castillo, 17, (Acoma Pueblo) is second American junior to cross the finish line.

1991 Boston, MA—Wings of the Southwest junior boys place second to Dartmouth. Junior girls win. Mary Jo Boot (Zuni Pueblo) places sixth in the nation.

1992 Boston, MA—Two Wings runners qualify for the TAC/USA national team and run at World Cross Country Championship in March. Milfred Tewawina, 26, (Hopi) runs with the senior team. Shane Garcia, 18, (Acoma) runs with the juniors and is the second American to cross the finish line.

Hong Kong and Chengdu, China—Eight Wings runners compete with Santa Fe/Los Alamos Track Club. Two Wings girls win titles: Melissa Lucero, 17, (Laguna) and Mary Jo Boot, 16, (Zuni).

Rome, Italy—Five Wings runners compete in a road race in Rome, Italy, sponsored by the City of Rome as part of their two-week Native American Festival. Milfred Tewawina, 27, (Hopi) wins in the senior division. Ramone Norris, 17, (Navajo) wins the junior division.

New Orleans, LA—Two Wings runners qualify for US Olympic Trials. Maurice "Mo" Smith, 27, (Navajo) makes it to semi-finals in 1,500 meters. Donny Belcourt, 25, (Chippewa/Cree) competes in the 5,000 and 1,500.

Slippery Rock, PA—Wings runner Phillip Castillo, 19, (Acoma) a sophomore at Adams State College, wins the NCAA, Division II national cross country championship, the first American Indian to win a collegiate title.

Kenosha, WI—Wings of the Southwest junior girls run away with the TAC/USA championship. Five Wings runners finish in the top eleven. Wings of the Southwest junior boys place second to Loyola University. Brandon Leslie, 16, (Navajo) places 2nd in the boys division.

San Diego, CA—Wings sends two runners to the Kinney Cross Country Championships. John Tsabatsaye (Zuni) places 20th.

1993 Saskatchewan, Canada—Melissa Lucero and Brandon Leslie represent Wings at the North American Indigenous Games in Prince Albert. Both runners win the gold medals in the 1500 & 3000 meters.

Missoula, MT—Both the Wings of the Southwest Junior Mens and Junior Womens Teams win the USA Track and Field National Cross Country Championship, with the junior men scoring a perfect score of 15.

San Diego, CA—Wings runner Brandon Leslie (Navajo) places 6th at the National Footlocker/Kinney Cross Country Championships.

1994 Fresno, CA—Wings runner Brandon Leslie, 17 (Navajo) qualifies for a spot on the Footlocker Western Regional Team.

San Diego, CA—Wings runner Brandon Leslie places 3rd in the nation at the Footlocker National Cross Country Championships.

Portland, OR—Wings of the Southwest boys and girls teams place 4th at the USA T & F National Championships in Portland, Oregon. Former Wings runner Pam White (Navajo), representing Adams State College, places 5th in the junior women's division.

1995 Indianapolis, IN—Wings alumnus, Pam White, places 3rd at NCAA, Division II Indoor Championships in 5000 meters.

Boston, MA—Wings of the Southwest junior womens team wins the USA T & F National Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park. Wings of the Southwest junior mens team takes 2nd place in their race.

1996 Palo Alto, CA—Wings of the Southwest junior womens team takes 2nd place at the USA T & F National Cross Country Championships at Stanford University.

1997 Portland, OR—Wings junior mens and womens teams finish 3rd in team competition at the USA T & F Cross Country Championships.

Becki Wells (Blackfeet), Wings Running and Fitness Camp facilitator, wins NCAA, Disivion I national indoor and outdoor track and field championships in mile and 1500 meters, becoming the first American Indian woman to win national collegiate titles.

1999 Tacoma, WA—Wings junior men and women win team division at USA Winter Cross Country National Championships.

Felicia Guliford, Wings runner, finishes 2nd at Footlocker West and 5th at Footlocker National Championships.

2000 Greensboro, NC—Wings junior womens team captures 1st place at the USA Winter Cross Country Championships. Junior mens team earns 2nd place.

Phillip Castillo and Theo Martin, Wings alumni, qualify for the Olympic Trials in the marathon. Becki Wells, Wings facilitator, qualifies for the Olympic Trials in the 800 and 1500 meter races.

2001 Vancouver, WA—Both Wings junior women and junior men capture team championships. Felicia Guliford finishes 7th overall, missing the USA World Team by one place.

Orlando, FL—Wings runners Felicia Guilford and Jesse Fayant qualify for Footlocker National Cross Country Finals and finish in the top ten in their respective races.

2002 Vancouver, WA—Wings junior women capture 1st place at USA Winter National Cross Country Championship. Felicia Guliford finishes eighth overall. Wings junior men are awarded 2nd place following a tie for 1st.

2003 Houston, TX—Wings junior men take 1st team place, junior women's team takes 3rd .

2004 Indianapolis, IN—Wings junior men capture 1st team place, junior women's team takes 2nd. Wings teams have accumulated 17 national championships in 16 years. Former Wings' runner, Forrest Tahdooahnippah finishes 4th overall and earns a berth on the USA World Cross Country Team.

2009 Derwood, MD—Wings Jr. men's team capture the second place honors. Jr. women's team capture fourth place honors.

Rolonda Jumbo (Navajo), age 15, from Chinle, AZ places 9th for the Jr. women's team and is selected to represent Team USA at the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Cross Country Championships at Chain of Lakes Park in Orlando, Florida on March 7, 2009.

March 7, 2009 - NACAC Championships: Rolonda Jumbo (Santa Fe, N.M.), finished 11th running 3:47 respectively to complete the team score for Team USA.

2010 Spokane, WA—Wings Jr. men's team capture another second place title. Jr. women's team place receive third place honors.

Wings of America hires new Program Director, Shaun Martin, of Chinle, AZ. Shaun is also a former Wings runner and summer facilitator.

Wings served over 4,500 American Indian youth and family through community run/walks up and down the Rio Grande corridor. Wings establishes partnerships with Pueblo Crossroads, National Indian Youth Leadership Project, Eight Northern Indian Pueblo Agency (ENIPC), and other programs in the surrounding Native communities.

Santa Fe Indian Education Department partners with Wings of America for a "Family & Community Fun Run/Walk".

Wings of America announces two new Board of Directors:
  • Billy Mills, Oglala Lakota (Sioux), 1964 Olympic Gold Medalist in the 10,000 meter race. Billy is the National Spokesperson for Running Strong for American Indian Youth. He earned a track scholarship to the University of Kansas and later served as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. Billy was also a board member when Wings of America first started in 1988.
  • Joann K. Chase, Manda/Hidatsa/Arikara, was born and raised on the Fort Berthold Indian reservation in central North Dakota. Her outstanding bio includes undergraduate work at Boston University; a legislative fellowship with Congresswoman Barbara Boxer, and a law degree from the University of New Mexico.
